Here at Lakesyde Kennel we have been in the breed of Golden Retrievers since the fall of ’96. We feel extremely blessed to be involved with such a fantastic breed and are so often humbled at the precious gifts we have been given. Lakesyde is a hobby/ boarding kennel with Cortney running a handling business as well on the side.
Currently there are 10 dogs that call Lakesyde home with many boarders coming and going. Our property was thought out for the dogs and is very dog friendly. We have a little over 5 acres with a pond and stream running through it. It is fairly secluded as it is reasonably far from the road and with quite a few trees, just short of being considered woods. Our kennel is 2400 sq ft, central air and heated with 14, completely covered, indoor-outdoor runs. There are 7 play yards to exercise and potty in that are secured with an electric fence for safety. A nice 'country' setting that most dogs really seem to enjoy.
We pride ourselves in our dogs’ temperaments, workability, trainability, and overall easygoing personalities. We work very hard to socialize our puppies from birth to ready them for anything life throws their way. While we ourselves focus mainly on conformation there have been several of our puppies and offspring of Isaac that have done very well in field, obedience, agility, and therapy. Currently we have 9 champions, including 3 homebred champions one that finished completely out of Bred By. We have some youngsters who we are also very excited about and have big hopes for. There just isn’t enough time in the day to do everything, but we sincerely believe that our dogs are have the potential to have titles on both ends of their names.
We are at dog shows anywhere from 2 to 4 weekends a month depending on the time of year, and whether we have babies. We have anywhere from 2 to 4 litters a year, all of our non-competitive puppies are placed in their homes with spay/neuter contracts and on limited registration. We sell to very few show homes as anything that we wouldn't keep ourselves are put in pet homes as we strive for quality show prospects not quantity. We are most proud of the pet puppies we have produced not only having produced overall nice looking dogs, but healthy, happy, well rounded members of the family.
